Comfort meals

Meal planning works well in theory, but in real life, plans, energy, appetite, and preferences can change day to day. Some days people want to fall back on familiar or "comfort" meals that feel easy, reliable, and low effort. It would be great to have that as an easy thing to flag on a recipe - not just that you enjoyed it.

The app could then:

  • Provide a quick-access view of these meals to reduce decision fatigue
  • Prioritise them when users want low effort options
  • Suggest similar recipes based on these choices (e.g. shared ingredients or meal types) to introduce gentle variety without overwhelming change

This would support a wide range of scenarios:

  • Low energy or busy days where cooking feels difficult
  • Neurodivergent users who benefit from familiarity and reduced choice
  • Families with picky eaters who prefer consistent, recognisable meals
  • Anyone who wants flexible planning that adapts to changing moods or schedules

By focusing on familiarity and flexibility, this feature would help bridge the gap between ideal meal planning and how people actually eat day to day.
